This Wednesday started like a curveball out of nowhere. After a full day of Uber driving, my car wouldn’t start during a dinner stop—classic alternator issue I’ve been ignoring for too long. Big thanks to my brother for the jumpstart, but it was only a temporary fix. So, I grabbed my parents' truck and hit the road to Twin Falls for an on-site shoot with GSC. Life throws unexpected wrenches—what matters is how you pivot.
“Entrepreneurship is 10% strategy and 90% showing up even when it’s inconvenient.”
What unfolded next was one of the most fascinating, behind-the-scenes experiences I’ve had in a while. Touring the GSC trailer manufacturing facility felt like walking through a live documentary of American craftsmanship and scalable systems.
From laser-cut steel to epoxy primers, robotic CNC benders to polyaspartic coatings, every detail was optimized for precision, strength, and durability. I watched as raw steel was transformed into powerful, specialized trailers—some that could haul 55,000+ pounds. Talk about heavy-duty vision.
Each employee knew their role. Welders, fabricators, and engineers collaborated seamlessly. You could feel the pride in every process. And the organization? Tight. This isn’t just manufacturing—it’s systemized excellence.
Being inside the GSC facility was like standing inside a live metaphor for business scaling. Every jig, every tool, every sequence was designed to support predictable, repeatable success. They’re not “winging it”—they’re winning with systems.
This hit me hard: If I want my media and marketing company to scale like GSC, I need frameworks just as tight. The StoryBrand approach I’m investing in, the workshops I’m planning, the partnerships I’m forming—those are my “jigs.” My tools. My CNC lasers.
The big question:
Where in my business do I still rely on hustle instead of process?
Where am I trying to weld with guesswork instead of blueprints?
What made the day even better were the conversations—walking and talking with team members, seeing pride in their eyes as they showed off the finished trailers. I even spotted a trailer just like mine on the floor. Turns out it wasn’t mine, but it was close—and gave me new ideas on how I might upgrade.
I love how even the smallest moments—like recognizing a floor pattern or hardware choice—can spark creativity. Everything's a lesson if you’re paying attention.
I left the facility reminded that greatness doesn’t happen by accident. GSC didn’t get where they are through wishful thinking. They got there with vision, leadership, and daily operational discipline. I want the same for my life, my business, and the people I serve.
“A good system will beat a great intention every time.”
To those following this journey: Keep building. Keep learning. Keep showing up—even when the car won’t start. The road might change, but the destination is still yours.
