I'm one week into my move to Store 48, and I wanted to give you a real-time look at what that's been like — not the polished version, the actual one.

The move itself has been genuinely fun. New store, new people, new rhythm. What's surprised me most isn't the challenge of it — it's how fast I settled in. New processes, new manager relationship, new team, and within a week it already feels dialed in.

Here's the part that's stuck with me the most: how similar the stores actually are. Same processes. Same procedures. Same systems, store to store. On the surface that might sound unremarkable — of course a company has standard operating procedure. But sit with it for a second, because it's actually the whole point.

That consistency is what lets someone like me walk into Store 48 after time at Store 6 and be productive in a week instead of a month. It's what lets an employee move from one location to another and step in without missing a beat. It's what lets people show up and help out wherever they're needed. That's not an accident. That's design.

And that's exactly why this excites me about owning a piece of something like WinCo. A business built to scale isn't built around any one person, any one store, any one manager. It's built so the system carries the weight — so time invested in one location compounds into value everywhere else. That's what ownership thinking looks like in practice: not just "how do I do my job well today," but "how does the way this is built create value that outlasts today."

Time is the one resource none of us get more of. What I'm learning at Store 48 is a reminder that the systems we build — in a business, in a career, in a life — determine whether our time compounds into something bigger than the hour we just spent, or just disappears into it.
