Hey, Life with Justin Stephens community! Justin here, checking in with a personal update on what has been a great week overall. As we document this journey through life's highs and challenges, sharing insights on personal finance, success, business, sales, and marketing, it's these real moments that keep it grounded. From wrapping up paperwork for my new job to a difficult but necessary conversation with my dad, watching my brother's dog, and even dipping back into dating, there's a lot to unpack. Let's dive in.
This week, I got all the paperwork done for my new role at WinCo, and my first day is Tuesday. I'm really excited about the work I'll be doing as a night stocker—it's a solid entry point, and I can't wait to be part of the team. WinCo has been one of my dream companies because it's an ESOP (Employee Stock Ownership Plan), meaning employees get ownership in the company they build. That's right in line with what I'm trying to accomplish with my blog and side hustles: Creating value where everyone shares in the success. It aligns perfectly with personal finance goals—stable income now, ownership for the future. Looking forward to learning the ropes and seeing where it leads, maybe even into sales or marketing down the line.
On a more personal note, I had a tough conversation with my dad this week. I've felt like he doesn't believe it's possible for me to succeed in what I already see as successes—like building this blog and my handyman services. It's been a triggering topic for both of us, so we've avoided it altogether. But sharing my feelings openly was a step forward, and I believe it will open the door to more honest, candid discussions. My dad is the most important person I want to understand my mission and vision—he's already like a board of directors in my life, but we haven't been on the same page. My hope is this shifts us toward collaboration, where he can offer guidance as I chase these goals.
This week, I've been watching my brother's dog, Denver, and it's been nice having him as part of my little team. He's been "working" with me on handyman tasks, keeping things light and fun. We've gotten a lot of videos for the Motivating Dogs channel—Denver's energy is infectious, and it's added some joy to the routine. Pets have a way of grounding you, reminding me to balance the hustle with simple pleasures.
Friday night, I went on a date, but the spark just wasn't there. It was nice to get out, but I'm still looking for someone to be part of my life—the kind of partner ready for a wild journey through time to create impact and help others. If you know anyone adventurous who's up for that, I'd love an introduction! Dating is part of the personal growth puzzle, and I'm keeping an open heart.
Overall, the week has been positive—excitement for WinCo, progress in tough conversations, fun with Denver, and clarity on what I'm seeking in life. It's all part of the bigger picture: Building financial stability, nurturing relationships, and staying true to my vision.
These updates show how success blends career moves (like ESOP ownership), honest talks for resilience, and personal adventures. It's a reminder that finance, business, and life are interconnected—plan for the long game while enjoying the now.
